PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Designed by RDLR Architects, the recently completed, 16,800 square foot, Fort Bend County Caleb Rule Public Safety Annex is located at the gateway to the cities of Fulshear and Simonton, and it is the center of activity for current residents of Firethorne, Cinco Ranch Southwest, Westheimer Lakes, and Cross Creek Ranch. The location is a prime spot for maximum law enforcement effectiveness and efficiency where the community wanted it most and will be an anchor and important presence in the growing community for decades to come. Commissioner Andy Meyers named the facility in honor of Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Caleb Rule who was shot and killed in a friendly-fire incident in May of 2020.

The project was approved by Fort Bend residents in November 2015 and falls under the requirements of Cross Creek Ranch, with the architecture designed to reflect their standards. In May of 2019, Fort Bend County Commissioners unanimously voted to approve the purchase of a parcel of land for the use and construction of the new annex.

The annex houses the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Marshal’s Office, and includes an Emergency Command Conference room. The Sheriff’s Office is the primary user of the building, with criminal investigation offices and briefing, touchdown and support spaces for patrol offices. There is also a two-cell detention area for temporary holding.

The site includes extensive parking, vehicle fueling for patrol cars and a helipad to support the Sheriff’s air operations. The site is designed to provide secure parking and outdoor space for the Sheriff’s office. Sight lines into secure areas are reduced to protect from ballistic attacks and secure areas are shielded from the public lobby.
