PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In collaborative effort, RDLR Architects, Inc. teamed with local artists in creating a truly unique airport/passenger experience for the Pedestrian Connectors of Terminals A&B at George Bush International Airport. The journey from the new parking garage into Terminals A & B utilizes the marriage of art and architecture to aesthetically enhance and create connection to garden and outdoor spaces which surround the project.

In Terminal A, artist Leamon Green incorporates colorfully lit niches into the serpentine wall while the opposing wall of etched glass features an array of travelers along a backdrop of ethnic patterns. The red and white terrazzo floor completes the artist’s celebration of Houston’s diverse population. Terminal B expresses Houston’s unique flora and fauna as Dixie Friend Gay’s “Visions of the Bayou,” rich with wildlife and local vegetation, canvases the serpentine wall while the terrazzo floors depict bayou creatures as mosaic inlays.

The 5,000-car parking garage was designed by HNTB.  RDLR assisted with the design of garage public spaces. RDLR was the design architect and Architect of Record for the pedestrian connectors.
