PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Patanjali Yoga Center will be the first overseas institution for Swami Ramdev, also known as Baba Ramdev, an Indian yogi and agriculturist known for his work in ayurveda, yoga, and agriculture. Ramdev has been holding large yoga camps since 2002 and broadcasting his yoga classes for TV audiences.

The Houston center will be modeled after the Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar, India, an institution for treatment and research in Yoga and Ayurveda. It will feature a Yoga Hall that will accommodate approximately 150 yoga students or 450 in a seated auditorium style setting. The Yoga Hall will be supported by additional Yoga Therapy Rooms and a Library to house 2,000 books and accommodate small seminars or lectures for up to 30 people. Additionally, there will be naturopathy and ayurvedic specialists for consultation sessions as well as spa/sauna spaces for the treatments.  

The Yajnya Shaala will be an 8-sided open structure with the capacity for 200 people and feature a central stage area. A walkway will connect back to the Yoga Hall. An adjacent 2-story housing structure will allow for living accommodations for students and instructors. The entire complex will have elaborate landscaping with trees, shrubs, flower beds and grass to suit local climatic conditions including a detention pond with calming water features. Several hundred trees (including many fruit trees) will be planted. Adequate parking will be provided for the facility.

Future phases include plans for a dedicated Gurukul, a residential/non-residential school, with an initial capacity of about 100 students for Acharyakulam or 40 university students. The school will be gradually increased in enrollment, over several years, to a total capacity of 250 students for Acharyakulam or 100 university students.
