PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For over 50 years, SER Jobs for Progress has provided education, training and employment services for individuals and businesses in Houston. To meet the growing need for job training services, SER purchased a 2.4 acre property with 1930’s era office and warehouse buildings.

RDLR provided full building and site assessments including reviews of Life Safety, ADA, MEP, Civil, Roofing, Building Envelope and Structural systems plus conceptual studies prior to our client’s purchase of the property. Once purchased, the RDLR team provided full A/E for the renovation of the 22,500 SF building.

The design reconfigures the building entry to allow direct and covered access from the public sidewalk and parking lot. A new two-story entry element is ADA compliant and, through landscaping and signage, welcomes users with the same hope and energy that SER’s programs provide. In addition, the entry canopy extends into the building lobby where clerestory windows allow in daylight and enliven an open café to serve students and community.
