TSA & HPD Bunker and K-9 Facility

CLIENT
Houston Airport System

RDLR Architects and the Houston Airport System (HAS) have joined forces to bring forth an innovative K-9 training facility, tailored exclusively for our four-legged heroes. This ambitious project encompasses a secure site that prioritizes both functionality and the highest standards of canine welfare. The facility's design includes strategically planned elements that contribute to the overall efficiency and operational excellence of the training center.

At the core of this endeavor lies the HPD office, serving as the hub for administrative and operational activities where Houston Police Department (HPD) personnel can collaborate, strategize, and coordinate the intricate aspects of K-9 training.

The K-9 area stands as a testament to the commitment of the well-being and growth of these remarkable animals. Built to temporarily house up to six K-9 dogs, the purpose-designed kennels provide a secure and comfortable haven. The thoughtful design considers the unique needs of police dogs, promoting their comfort and tranquility. An indoor dog wash area, included in the main office building, provides space to maintain the dogs' physical well-being for optimum training readiness. Adjacent to the kennels, the K-9 training/exercise area enables comprehensive training exercises, drills, and activities, enhancing the dogs' agility and obedience and equipping them for their demanding roles.

The project extends to secure storage magazines, housing explosive training devices. Safeguarded against the elements, these structures prioritize safety and security. The metal buildings, designed for durability and resistance, promise longevity for these vital components within the larger facility.

In sum, the project team is poised to deliver a secure haven, promising a brighter future for K-9 training and operational preparedness.
