PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Under the umbrella of the IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP), the new Mickey Leland International Terminal Complex (ITC) at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) provided for the development of a new, consolidated terminal experience for all international passengers. The program included an International Central Processor (ICP), a renovated Terminal D concourse, a new international concourse called Pier D West, and a new Baggage Screening Facility.
RDLR Architects worked with design architect Fentress Architects to provide production/AOR services for the new Mickey Leland International Terminal Foreign Flag Checked Baggage Inspection Station Building – Core and Shell. Approximately 56,000 SF, the new facility, located at Terminal D, was designed to handle the increasing baggage loads moving through the Mickey Leland International Terminal.
The design provided a simplified, more efficient, and intuitive passenger experience while creating a memorable welcome to the U.S. and its fourth-largest and most culturally diverse city. Passengers also benefited from a simplified roadway system that was easier to navigate to and from the ICP.
