PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The 9,300-gross-square-foot (GSF) Integrated Coordination Center (ICC) brings TSA, Houston Police, maintenance dispatch, and terminal operations together in one space for the first time—transforming how George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) manages daily activity and emergency response. Relocated from Terminal A to the General Services Facility, the ICC required extensive IT, AV, security, and electrical upgrades, along with showers and lockers to support 24/7 operations.

From everyday monitoring to full-scale emergency management, the ICC is built for resiliency. It becomes a 24/7 war room during hurricanes, enables real-time coordination with airlines when diversions strand aircraft, and orchestrates security, traffic, and passenger flow when Houston hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For passengers, the impact is invisible—ensuring restrooms remain open, airfields remain secure, and flight disruptions are handled seamlessly.

Key challenges included ceiling-height limitations that affected video wall visibility and significant equipment planning requirements. Through close coordination and creative solutions, the team delivered a mission-control-style hub that keeps Houston’s largest airport moving efficiently through any event.
